Holiday shopping season is upon us, but did you know that you can help support your local library as you do your shopping?
Popular online retailer Amazon.com has partnered with public libraries to offer the “Buy It Now” button on library websites.
The process is simple, and you have multiple ways of doing your shopping. If you find a book while browsing the Muhlenberg County Public Library catalog that you decide to purchase rather than check out from the library, you can click the “Buy It Now” button beside the book’s title. The Amazon.com page for that title will pop up, allowing you to add the book (and anything else you’d like to purchase) to your cart.
Alternatively, you can visit our Web site at http://www.mcplib.org and click on the Buy It Now link there; you can find it as one of the scrolling images at the top of the page. Once you click on that, Amazon’s main page will open, allowing you to start shopping.
After you check out and pay for your purchases, Amazon.com will send a portion of your payment back to the library to be used for materials, programs, and services.
This feature does not add any additional cost to your purchases, and it applies to almost anything you purchase from Amazon through our link. Once you click our special link, as long as you don’t close the page or leave Amazon.com, your purchases will all count toward our proceeds.
As a public library, we rely on our community to keep us going and allow us to continue to provide our programs and services, and this is a great way to help support the library without any additional cost to consumers!
