Muhlenberg County Public Libraries’ Thistle Cottage will host an exhibit of artwork by painter Clyde Lawter during September.
Lawter, a native of Oklahoma, recently moved to Muhlenberg County to be near family. His work has been featured in numerous shows throughout the Midwest, including three solo shows at the Parthenon in Nashville, Tenn., and he has appeared on several television programs related to art. He has also judged multiple art competitions and is the founder of the Paducah Area Painters’ Alliance.
Lawter works in a variety of techniques to produce his artwork. His favorite style is French Post-Impressionist, such as that used by Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne. The exhibit at Thistle Cottage will include _ of his works.
Lawter’s artwork will be on display at Thistle Cottage through September 30. The artist himself will visit Thistle Cottage for an open house and reception on September 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. This event will give the community a chance to meet with Lawter and discuss the artwork on display. Community members can also stop by Thistle Cottage during regular business hours any time in September to view the exhibit.
Thistle Cottage is open Mon.-Fri. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
