Virginia “Ginny” Cummins was born and was able to remain an artist her entire life. Virginia had a lifelong passion for art. She began by drawing and her talent was apparent. In the early 1960s, she decided to pursue art in a deliberate way. She worked at Bryson’s Studio in Central City for several years, where she learned to hand color photographs and where she met her future business partner, Donna Richardson. Virginia’s formal art training came from studio classes at Brescia University and Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY. Her eye for color and attention to details were exceptional. Although she loved and was adept at all art mediums, she loved oil painting in particular. She is best known for her oil and watercolor work. We are honored to show her work in the gallery at Thistle Cottage. Please join us as we celebrate the life and artistic career of this special lady.

Wish I had known about this. I have a beautiful oil by Virginia called “New Befinnings” that hung over the fireplace in the Charles Smith home on Broad Syreet in Central City.
