Muhlenberg County Public Libraries is proud to name Kylie Rosenkranz and Luna Stanley as Kid Librarians for May 2025.
Kid Librarians are chosen monthly to design a juvenile display at the library. Each Kid Librarian may choose a theme for their display, select library materials to highlight and decide how to organize and best show off the chosen titles. New Kid Librarians are selected each month for each library branch (Harbin Memorial and Central City).
Chosen Kid Librarians are acknowledged inside the library with a sign next to their display, as well as being recognized in the local newspapers and on the library’s website and social media accounts.
Central City’s Kid Librarian for May 2025 is Kylie Rosenkranz. Rosenkranz, 12, is just completing her fifth grade year in school. Her favorite subject is reading; she especially enjoys Dr. Seuss and the Pete the Cat series. Rosenkranz’s display includes colorful books for a range of ages, in honor of the library’s upcoming Color Your World Summer Reading Program, but for her own reading, she enjoys humorous books and those in the adventure genre. She looks forward to her own future adventures, too – she said she hasn’t traveled much but wants to. She especially wants to visit Florida. Rosenkranz also hopes to become an archaeologist in her future.
Luna Stanley is Harbin Memorial’s Kid Librarian for May. Stanley is 10 years old and just completed fourth grade. She loves reading because, she said, “Books are an adventure on paper.” That’s important to her; Stanley said she enjoys reading about romance – it’s actually her favorite genre – but she is also an adventurous sort of person. (Her favorite book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, earns that honor because it includes a little bit of everything, including both romance and adventure.) When Stanley isn’t reading about adventures, she is having them for herself. She loves amusement parks, especially roller coasters, and she wants to travel to Tokyo, Japan because she wants to try the foods and experience the culture. Stanley has a little brother, Lazarus.
Kid Librarian displays are available at their respective library branches each month. They are removed the following month to make space for the next set of chosen Kid Librarians.
New Kid Librarians are chosen for each library branch at the beginning of each month.
The Kid Librarian program is for children and teens in third through eighth grade. Applications are available at the front desk of each library branch.
