Kid Librarians — April 2025

Muhlenberg County Public Libraries is proud to announce March picks for Kid Librarian: MacKenzie Hughes and Natalee Kukula.
Kid Librarians are chosen monthly to design a juvenile display at the library. Each Kid Librarian may choose a theme for their display, select library materials to highlight and decide how to organize and best show off the chosen titles. New Kid Librarians are selected each month for each library branch (Harbin Memorial and Central City).
Chosen Kid Librarians are acknowledged inside the library with a sign next to their display, as well as being recognized in the local newspapers and on the library’s website and social media accounts.
MacKenzie Hughes is Harbin Memorial’s Kid Librarian for March 2025. Hughes, 10, is in fourth grade. Her favorite subject in school is history, and she loves reading mystery novels. She doesn’t really have one favorite author, but she does particularly enjoy Sharon Creech’s Walk Two Moons for its mystery elements and inclusion of other things Hughes is interested in. Hughes enjoys a wide variety of interests: she participates in 4-H and is a purple belt in tae kwon do; she loves arts & crafts, including photography; and she loves nature. Hughes is also interested in someday visiting New York City to explore the downtown area and see some plays there.
Central City’s Kid Librarian for March 2025 is Natalee Kukula. Kukula is 9 years old and in the third grade. Her favorite school subject is math, but she also really enjoys reading, especially graphic novels, as is reflected in her library display. Her favorite author, Kayla Miller, works in that genre. (The fifth book in Miller’s Click series, Crunch, is Kukula’s favorite.) Kukula is part of a large family – she has five siblings. She hopes to visit Disneyland in California someday.
Kid Librarian displays are available at their respective library branches each month. They are removed the following month to make space for the next set of chosen Kid Librarians.
New Kid Librarians are chosen for each library branch at the beginning of each month.
The Kid Librarian program is for children and teens in third through eighth grade. Applications are available at the front desk of each library branch.
For more information about the Kid Librarian program, contact Muhlenberg County Public Libraries at 270-338-4760 or stop by to fill out an application.
