Young Artist Showcase

Muhlenberg County youth have the opportunity to have their artwork on display at the Muhlenberg County Public Libraries’ Thistle Cottage this month.

The Young Artist Showcase, which includes work by K-8 students across the county, will be exhibited throughout the month of March.

This exhibit is sponsored by the Muhlenberg Arts Council in conjunction with Muhlenberg County Public Libraries. Each of the elementary and middle schools throughout the county is asked to submit up to 10 pieces of art per grade level as chosen by the teachers. Each student whose work is chosen will receive a certificate of participation from the Arts Council, and the Council will also choose the best works for each grade level and present awards to those students.

The awards will be presented during the exhibit’s Open House on March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. This event is open to the public, and each of the students who have work displayed is encouraged to attend and discuss their work with other visitors. Refreshments will be provided.

The artwork will remain on display at Thistle Cottage through the end of March.

The Young Artist Showcase was inspired by and designed to coincide with Youth Art Month, an annual event that emphasizes the importance of arts education for children.
