New Book, New Author, Missing School Bus!?
Guyla Ann Conway, a former teacher and lifetime resident of Muhlenberg County, has recently been added to Kentucky’s list of published authors. She received her education in three universities, and she has taught elementary grades 1-5 in three separate elementary schools. Recently she was recognized as one of the winners of the Stanly Lewis Writing Contest. Now, Guyla’s first book is a “read-aloud” book for young children of approximate ages 2-7.

In a very colorful story, “Where Was the Big Yellow School Bus?, twin brothers must be patient as they wait the arrival of their older brother from his very last day of kindergarten. While enjoying a hint of suspense and with the repetitive nature of the story, children will be learning a myriad of basic concepts including identification of colors, numbers, elapsing time, telling time, and more. Next, for the I-Spy enthusiasts, readers (and non-readers), will also be able to search for hidden/time numbers within the pictures as well.

Then, for parents, grandparents, and care-givers, there are ideas for questions, family discussions and activities at the end of the book. After all, Story-time is Family-time!
Guyla is scheduled to have a “Read-Aloud” session with the children in the Central City Public Library at 10:30 on Thursday, March 2, with a book signing afterward. Books are available through FaceBook, Amazon, or by contacting Guyla locally.
