Pictures with Santa & Jubilee of Trees

jubilee-2016-fb

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Muhlenberg County Public Libraries!

It’s almost time for the Jubilee of Trees and Pictures with Santa at Muhlenberg County Public Libraries’ Thistle Cottage. Santa will be at Thistle Cottage on Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. , with a break from 11 to 11:30 a.m. A professional photographer will take photos of Santa with each of his visitors. As in previous years, the photographer will charge $10 for a CD or digital copy of the photos taken.

Cookies and hot chocolate will also be available for visitors while they wait for their turn to see Santa.
The Jubilee of Trees opens Dec. 3 for Pictures with Santa and will remain open through Dec. 30.

The Jubilee of Trees includes trees decorated by local businesses and organizations, each with a different children’s book as the theme. This year the Jubilee features 18 trees decorated by:

  • Muhlenberg County Public Libraries
  • City of Central City
  • Commonwealth Community Bank
  • Depot Gifts and Corner Fashions
  • First Kentucky Bank
  • First Southern National Bank
  • Girls of GHS
  • Greenville Tourism
  • Happy Feet
  • Hospice of Western Kentucky
  • Muhlenberg Arts Council
  • Muhlenberg County Extension Homemakers
  • Muhlenberg County Extension Service
  • Muhlenberg County Humane Society
  • Old National Bank
  • Owensboro Health – Muhlenberg Community Hospital
  • Relay for Life
  • SOAR
  • Uncle Lee’s

Visitors to the Jubilee of Trees can vote for their favorite tree. At the end of the Jubilee, the votes will be counted, and the winning organization gets a certificate and bragging rights for a year.

The library also gives away a book for each decorated tree (in most cases, the book that served as the inspiration for the tree’s decorations). One name will be drawn out of the votes for each tree, and the winner receives the appropriate book for that tree.

The Jubilee of Trees is free to visit and is open to the public during regular business hours, Mon.-Fri. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m. for lunch).
